Print a PDF as a booklet

Imposition looks strange on screen because it solves a physical object. Follow the sheet, not your first intuition.

The idea

A printed sheet does not follow reading order.

The last page sits beside the first on the outer front. Fold the centre line and they become back and front covers. That is imposition.

A sequence you can manipulate

Watch pages become an object.

Six pages in reading order. Two positions are missing from a complete two-sheet set.

From file to stapler

01

Validate locally and check pages and blanks.

02

Choose A4 or Letter and a duplex mode.

03

Inspect every sheet and side in preview.

04

Print at 100%, fold accurately, and staple through the spine.

Settings worth pausing for

Disable “fit to page” when size matters. Folded A4 yields approximately A5; folded Letter yields half-Letter. Pliego adds margins and does not promise exact 1:1 scale.

  • Orientation: landscape
  • Scale: 100% for the test
  • Usual flip: short edge
  • Finish: fold and staple the spine

Where blanks land in 6, 10, and 14-page documents.

↗

A test costs one sheet. Guessing can cost the whole job.
